Alan Taylor director of the upcoming Terminator 5, or more likely, the reboot of the Terminator franchise, which is planned as a trilogy of films with the first one due in theaters on July 1, 2015 is not the only news. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been hired to write and executive produce a new Terminator TV series that will intersect with the films.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the TV series jumps back to the original 1984 film and goes another direction.

So, there is new life in the Terminator franchise in the form of a TV series and a trilogy of films. This cross-platform method of storytelling is a new trend of late. The TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D works within the Marvel movie-verse and Ron Howard is going Dark Tower, Stephen King that is, with a planned trilogy and a TV series to fill in and bridge the gaps between the films.

The casting for the feature film is still under way, but according to Deadline, Taylor has narrowed down his potential Sarah Conner's to Brie Larson or Emilia Clarke. What is known so far, cast wise, is the Terminator reboot brings back Arnold Schwarzenegger for the 2015 film.
