Guillermo del Toro the visionary creator of the Academy Award-winning "Pan's Labyrinth" and the recent "Pacific Rim" has an upcoming Vampire series "The Strain" heading to FX. The series is based on Toro's three novels known as "The Strain Trilogy."

Statement from FX:
"We could not be more excited to be moving forward with Guillermo, Carlton and Chuck on "The Strain." This is an epic story with stunning visuals and remarkable acting. "The Strain" totally reimagines and reinvents the genre." ~Eric Schrier and Nick Grad.

FX has officially picked up "The Strain" for a 13 episode first season. Toro has a planned 3-5 season run of the series, we'll have to see how that works out after the first season hits the airwaves, but it is good to know there is a plan. The series will debut on FX in July of 2014!
