Netflix has renewed The Killing for a fourth season, the streaming company has confirmed. The renewal comes two months after the shows cancelation at the hands of AMC, with Netflix billing the 6-episode chapter as the series’ final season.

Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix, emphasized The Killing‘s serialized power, Netflix’s serial-friendly platform and the desire to give the drama a "proper send-off":

"The rich, serialized storytelling in The Killing thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper send off. We are looking forward to offering fans – both existing and new – a series that we know is perfectly suited for on-demand viewing."

The next installment will follow a new murder investigation led by homicide detectives Sarah Linden levi (Mireille Enos) and Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman).

The series also adds new talent: Tyler Ross, Levi Meaden and Sterling Beaumon, to the fourth season.

The first three seasons are available on Netflix. The streaming service did not announce when the new episodes of Season 4 would be available for viewing.
