Jana Mashonee, Lumbee and Tuscarora, has been nominated by the Native American Music Awards for Artist of the Year, Best Pop Recording, and Song/Single of the Year for "Stay With Me Baby" (2012).

Jana -- a singer, songwriter, actress, author and philanthropist originally from Robeson County, North Carolina, found initial success with chart-topping club hits like "More Than LIfe" and her creative rendition of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven"

"More than Life" sold over a million copies on its own and as part of numerous compilation albums; and, her version of "Stairway to Heaven" earned her the honor of being the first Native American to top the Billboard dance charts.

In 2006, Jana released "American Indian Story", a concept album that got a Grammy nomination.

"The video for the single, 'The Enlightened Time', won awards at film festivals around the world as well as a Nammy for Best Short Form Music Video."

Not only is Jana a successful musician she is also a published author.

Her first book, "American Indian Story - The Adventures of Sha'kona" (2010) based on the Grammy nominated album of the same name, takes the reader on a journey of "discovery, courage, friendship and heroism".

I discovered Jana Mashonee while browsing and listening to the Native American Music Awards nominees' songs. Her studio recorded voice was so powerful and beautiful that I had to watch her perform that song live and While watching her perform "Stay With Me Baby" at the Stage of Nations Blue Eco Festival on July 28th, 2012 (YouTube), I was amazed at how powerful and effortless her voice and spirit traveled through the computer screen! And, it was a live performance!
