Rizzoli and Isles on TNTSynopsis (Bloodlines - Air Date: August 22, 2011)
Jane and the team investigate what appears to be a modern-day witch hunt in Salem. Meanwhile, Frankie's old girlfriend returns to town with a surprise, and Jane has no problem speaking her mind about the situation.
Full Synopsis (spoilers)
Nothing like a good old fashined witch burning, but I prefer marshmellows and ghost stories.
The next morning Rizzol’s mom makes her bunny pancakes and drops not so subtle hints about her lack of grand-kids. She also drops a fork, which she thinks means they’ll get a female visitor. Then, sure enough, Rizzoli’s cop bro’s ex shows up. And judging by the mini skirt and stilettos, she’s female. She’s not getting much love from Jane or her mom though, apparently she has a history of breaking Frankie’s heart and taking his money.
The team finds the crispy witch, and there’s far too much jocularity in the presence of a burnt corpse. They also find a titanium knee which will have a serial number to identify said corpse, which kind of takes all the fun out of the detective work.
The vic is Helen, 43 and the team goes to look through her house. And they find a black cat. Witch! But the dust covering every surface seems to indicate a lack of brooms.
Jet Jackson busts through the locked cellar door, and completely ignoring the cardinal rules of horror flicks, they go to check it out. They find some kind of alter with skulls and other creepity creep items. As well as a giant pentagram on the floor.
Isles comes down to analyze the alter, and deems the the magic black. She also finds ingredients for a love spell, a evil spell, healing and protection, as well as two photos of two different men.So she was a witch with multiple personality disorder.
It seems Helen has records that shows she’s descended from colonials from the Salem witch trails. It seems the one of the guys who was to be the recipient of the spells in the basement was a real estate developer who wanted to build a mall on Helen’s land, which she refused to sell. I smell motive.
They drag him in, and he explains she was crazy for refusing his generous offer for the land because it was sacred.
Jet Jackson and Korsac think he hired someone, to kill her so they follow that lead.
Rizzoli and Isles bump into her brother who seems to be off to meet his evil ex. To prevent another love connection Isles and Rizzoli go on a brother stakeout. They confirm he’s with her.
Korsak calls and says they found Helen’s will, and she left her land to three people who work at an occult store.Unfortunately while on the phone, her brother catches them, and decides it’s a good time to introduce her to his eight year oldish daughter. Scandal!
Rizzoli seems fairly calm about the discovery of the new niece, mostly because she thinks she isn’t really Frankie’s.
Rizzoli and Isles go to the shop to talk to the three that will inherit the land. They say there all member of the same coven as Helen. They also identify one of men from the alter as one of the coven member’s father, a reverend who didn’t approve of his daughters witchy ways.
Rizzoli’s mom is instantly smitten with her new granddaughter though Rizzoli’s still preoccupied with hating the kids mother.
Korsak finds Helen’s phone records which shows the reverend was calling her hundreds of times. It turns out Helen taught her she was descended from the famous Salem witch Sarah Goode. He claims he was mad at Helen, but didn’t murder her.
Rizzoli, Isles, Jet Jackson and Korsak go to the coven’s seance where they intend to speak with Helen. You know they’re real official witches because they have a ouija board. During the seance coven dude goes rigid and rasps “the killer is near.”
Isles seems to buy the performance, but Rizzoli doesn’t.
They then regroup at Isles for a family dinner with the new granddaughter, brother, and brother’s ex, who’s getting certified as a nurse’s aide.
Rizzoli isn’t subtle about her hatred for her brother’s ex, and Frankie’s having none of it directed at “the mother of his child.” On the way out Rizzoli nicks the kid’s sippy cup to use for a DNA test.
Korsak calls and it’s another witch down. Sabrina, the daughter of the reverend, was attacked closing up the magic shop. She can’t remember much of anything, but they do find a card from the sleazy real-estate guy. When they investigate the rest of the magic shop they find coven man dead in his bathtub.
They immediately go for the third coven member, who has an alibi and claims to be in fear for her life. They agree to give her police protection. Real estate creep has an alabi. Isles proves the coven dude was forcibly drowned.
Frankie realizes Jane took the cup, and admits he was going to have a paternity test of his own. They also bump into his mother, who was also trying to get a paternity test done.
They find figs in the coven dudes’ stomach, meaning he was killed very soon after the seance, before Sabrina would have been attacked. They realize Sabrina staged her attack, and that she was actually the killer
Isles says Sabrina has the markers of schizophrenia, inherited from Sarah Goode, which could explain why she thinks she’s a witch, and has the strength to hold coven dude under the water. And now she’s out of the hospital and on the loose!
Isles believes her break was caused by the conflict within her between her christian upbringing and her pagan leanings, and the voices are telling her to go christian. The team finds her when shes’s already lit the third coven member’s stake. Luckily Rizzoli tackles her and they out out the fire.
Also, spoiler, the new grand-kid isn’t really Frankie’s daughter. Poor Mrs. Rizzoli.
