Oliver Queen Strips Down in the Final Poster for the CW's 'Arrow'Oliver Queen Strips Down in the Final Poster for the CW's 'Arrow'

Arrow, a new television series based on the exploits of the finest politically-active socialist archer in the DC Comics universe, is set start airing this October.

In order to ensure that you, the audience, are a) aware of this and b) excited about this, the final poster for Arrow has been revealed.

Back in June, we saw an extended teaser for the Arrow pilot that was strikingly reminiscent of Batman Begins, along with a dark, moody poster that kept Oliver Queen hooded and in the shadows.  Still, that poster gave a look at the new Green Arrow costume as designed by three-time Academy Award winner Colleen Atwood.

For this new poster, though, somebody said, "To hell with Oscar-caliber costume design!  Take his shirt off so we can see some abs and scars!"  And that entirely hypothetical person got exactly what they demanded, and Stephen Amell is indeed shirtless in character as Oliver Queen.  And he does indeed have many, many scars obtained during the half-decade that the young billionaire spent marooned on a deserted island, honing his archery skills and general resolve.  He's also got his quiver on, because otherwise folks might be a little unclear on the whole Green Arrow thing.

The poster is here for your viewing pleasure thanks to the good folks over at SuperHeroHype.

Balk at all that exposed skin if you must, but it's a well known fact that fabric of any type seriously interferes with arrow-firing.  Why do you think Hawkeye wears a sleeveless shirt?

Arrow isn't the first time Mort Weisinger and George Papp's superhero has made it to live-action television, as the character was a major part of Smallville, which Arrow is basically replacing.  This particular series was developed by Green Lantern screenplay contributors Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, with Andrew Kreisberg writing the pilot teleplay.  David Nutter, supervised the pilot, having directed episodes of The Pacific, Entourage, Game of Thrones, and Shameless.

Arrow airs on The CW Wednesday nights at 8 starting October 10th.
