Check Out Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand in 'The Guilt Trip'Check Out Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand in 'The Guilt Trip'

Aside from her appearances in Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers, two-time Oscar winner Barbra Streisand hasn't shown up onscreen since starring in and directing The Mirror Has Two Faces in 1996.  She's making her Focker-less return this holiday season with The Guilt Trip, and today we've got a first look at she and Seth Rogen as mother and son in the comedic drama.

Formerly titled My Mother's Curse, The Guilt Trip stars Rogen as a young inventor whose latest innovation isn't garnering much interest, prompting him to set out on a road trip to hawk his wares.  Since his mother has been in a rut following the death of her husband, the young man takes her on his road trip, intending to surprise her with a visit to an old lover in San Francisco. Hijinks and odd couple contention ensues.

Since this is a comedy, we can expect no small amount of bickering, and the combination of Rogen and Streisand could facilitate nigh-endless shenanigans.

The still below debuted at The Film Stage this morning, so a big thanks in that direction.

Last summer, screenwriter Dan Fogelman demonstrated his ability to create a story that pleasingly alternates between comedy and familial drama with Crazy, Stupid, Love, and here's hoping he does that again with this one.  Fogelman is a Disney veteran who contributed to Tangled, Bolt, and Cars, but he's now made his way into live-action.

Directing his script this time is Anne Fletcher.  A prolific choreographer, Fletcher made her directorial debut with Step Up in 2006, then went on to helm 27 Dresses and The Proposal.

In addition to the potentially-inspired pairing of Rogen and Streisand as the leads, Fletcher has put together a cast of actors who've proven their comedic chops, such as the NBC series triumvirate of Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Scott, and Danny Pudi, of Chuck, Parks and Recreation, and Community, respectively.  Also in the cast are Casey Wilson, Kathy Najimy, Brett Cullen, and Dale Dickey.

The Guilt Trip arrives on December 25th.
