Antiviral stars Caleb Landry Jones – who made a ridiculous superpower seem a lot less ridiculous as Banshee in X-Men: First Class – as Syd March, an employee at the Lucas Clinic. In the celebrity saturated world of the film, institutions like the Lucas Clinic facilitate a closer connection to the exalted figures of their dreams by injecting people with diseases harvested from tabloid idols. It looks as though that's only the suppurating tip of a nasty, pustulating iceberg that includes cannibalism and lots of sick business.
The trailer and poster both popped up at the Canadian side of Yahoo! Movies, while the clip is courtesy of Bleeding Cool.
There's also a viral site for the Lucas Clinic at, naturally, LucasClinic.com.
Sarah Gadon, who also plays a supporting role in the elder Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, stars alongside Jones here, with Malcolm McDowell also making an appearance.
Antiviral screened in competition at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is set to play the Toronto Film Festival next month. It'll have a theatrical release on October 12th.
