'Looper' International Poster Faces Its Past, Fights Its Future'Looper' International Poster Faces Its Past, Fights Its Future

England and America may speak the same language, but we do some things differently.  Health care, for one.  Movie posters, for another.  The British get familiar one-sheets like ours, with the heightwise bigness, but in the United Kingdom they also get quad posters, which emphasize the lengthwise.  For an illustrative example of the difference between a one-sheet and a quad poster, see the new Looper promo below.

Any excuse to post something from Looper, the third feature from writer-director-exceptionally nice guy Rian Johnson, who made an ostentatious debut with the great high school noir Brick and followed that up with the unconventional, moving heist movie The Brothers Bloom

With this film, Johnson takes on science fiction and action.  The story involves a future wherein time travel has been invented, but its illegality means its only used by criminals.  The system used by organized crime sends marks back in time thirty years to be murdered and disposed of by killers called Loopers.  Our hero ends up in a tough spot when the mark he's meant to kill is himself but three decades older.  Dust-ups and craziness ensue.

This quad poster debuted at Yahoo! Movies UK.

In related news, Johnson directed this Sunday's new episode of Breaking Bad on AMC.  This is the first he's directed since the outstanding bottle episode "Fly" in season three, so make sure you check out the One Who Knocks this weekend.

Back on topic, though, what we've got here is a singularly talented writer-director reteaming with his Brick leading man Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays a younger version of Bruce Willis.  That should get you on board right there, but on the off chance that you remain unconvinced, keep in mind that the supporting cast includes ringers like Jeff Daniels, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Garret Dillahunt, Piper Perabo, and Noah Segan.

Looper hits theaters on September 28th.
