Wolverine's hair always worked well on a comic book page, a signature silhouette that different artists could stylize and vary according to their tastes and take on the character. Getting just the right swept-back horns to go with Logan's mutton chops probably meant dumptrucks full of pomade on the first three X-Men movies, but Wolverine's first solo outing saw him pretty literally letting his hair down a bit.
For this standalone movie, it looks like director James Mangold has trimmed Jackman up a bit from his previous shaggy situation, but has retained that standard spikes on either side of his head. See for yourself in the images below.
In one of the first two, both of which are courtesy of the Leader, the merry actor poses with Carol Provan, the mayor of Sutherland Shire, as a thanks for allowing the picture to shoot in her neck of the woods. In the second two images, here thanks to Daily Telegraph, Jackman is actually shooting a scene on a set replicating a Japanese POW camp.

To back up quickly, let's do a rundown on casting so far. A few weeks back we learned that Russian Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy actress Svetlana Khodchenkova is in talks to play Viper, a role for which Jessica Biel was briefly in talks earlier this month. Assuming her negotiations work out, Khodchenkova will join a cast led by Jackman that also includes Will Yun Lee as the villainous Silver Samurai, along with Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Hal Yamanouchi, and Hiroyuki Sanada.
This film is less a sequel to 2009's not-so-good X-Men Origins: Wolverine and instead adapts Wolverine's famous Japanese saga by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. The amnesiac loner with unbreakable bones finds himself in Japan, where learns about honor while also finding love and tangling with the Tokyo underworld. The screenplay is by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback.
The Wolverine is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 26, 2013.
