TechnomancerImagine the confusion of waking up bruised and broken in a Las Vegas hospital in a state of amnesia that has cleared the memory of your recent life. Now, imagine how your confusion would be compounded if the hospital’s staff ejected you from the building by bending the laws of physical space and time itself?

This is where blog-writer Quentin Draith finds himself while investigating a series of murders that defy explanation. In his investigation, Draith uncovers a hidden society that is more disturbing than the crimes themselves, a secretive group of people that refer to themselves collectively as “the Community”. The most powerful among them are the Technomancers, individuals who wield technology so advanced it is indistinguishable from magic.

Technomancers rule the city from behind the scenes, and Quentin finds himself slowly becoming one of them. Seemingly ordinary objects are the root of the Technomaner’s powers, but despite their simple appearance each artifact is indestructible and capable of altering reality.

The first object Quentin encounters is a pair of ordinary sunglasses. He discovers they have the power to soften metals. Among other benefits, locks become rubbery and open easily at his touch. He soon encounters many other powers, including a photograph that regenerates flesh, a coin that opens a path to another world when it’s spun on its edge, and a knife that can stab an enemy from across the street. The most dangerous of them, however, is a child’s yellow alarm clock with a painted-on smile. This seemingly innocuous object summons a monstrous lava-slug, an alien creature the size of a boulder. Made of melted silicon, the monster is capable of burning anyone who comes near and is as impossible to kill as any stone should be.

It’s left to Quentin to figure out how these strange objects came to be in his city and his investigations will lead him to many bizarre places and into the presence of aliens, scientists, monsters and impossibilities.
