New 'The Campaign' Clip: Cam Brady on Finance and SexualityNew 'The Campaign' Clip: Cam Brady on Finance and Sexuality

Less than two weeks out from the movie's nationwide release, we've got a new official clip from The Campaign.

It's not a terribly long excerpt from the comedy, but it's chock full of Will Ferrell in Ricky Bobby mode.  Ferrell's character, longtime unchallenged North Caroline Congressman Cam Brady, is very much in the tradition of Ferrell's imbecilic yet entitled man children with an entirely undeserved sense of his own excellence.  Here, Brady and his wife, played by Katherine LaNasa, attempt to woo some potential donors to a Brady Super PAC.

Brady's offer to prostitute his wife for a little extra cash leads to some unexpected places, as the Congressman reveals some details about his sexual history, all while laughing ingratiatingly.  If you were still under the impression that The Campaign would be a nuanced satire of contemporary American politics, this clip should clarify a few things.  Though you were probably tipped off by the trailers featuring Ferrell punching a baby in the face, playing a keytar, and getting bitten by a snake.

Big thanks to Yahoo! Movies, where you can also watch the clip in high definition.

Presumably we'll be seeing some more promotional clips packaged like this one, probably showcasing Zach Galifianakis as Marty Huggins, the good-natured moron recruited by a pair of billionaires to run against Brady.

Jay Roach, whose comedy pedigree includes all three Austin Powers movies and Meet the Parents, directs from a screenplay by Shawn Harwell and Chris Henchy.  Roach isn't entirely new to playing with politics, having helmed the fact-based HBO dramas Recount and Game Change, which chronicled aspects of the 2000 and 2008 presidential elections.

The Campaign, combining Roach's affection for funny stuff and politics, hits theaters next Friday, August 10th.
