British Bondage: 'Skyfall' Gets Two Theatrical TrailersBritish Bondage: 'Skyfall' Gets Two Theatrical Trailers

As a direct result of the Olympic games in London, there's a certain amount of Anglophilia going around.  James Bond is a global signifier of British-ness, so what better time for not one, but two new theatrical trailers for Skyfall to arrive?  These two full-length trailers represent our best look so far at Bond's twenty-third movie outing, and both have pretty much everything you'd expect or want from a 007 preview.

Over the weekend we saw a snazzy TV spot from the Olympics Opening Ceremony, and we've previously been treated to a teaser, as well as many a featurette.

All of which were mere samplers compared to these new trailers.  The first is the domestic theatrical trailer, while the second is an international version.  Both are quite similar, giving our best idea of the film, including a story featuring a beefed-up presence for Judi Dench's M, lots of opportunities for Daniel Craig to look sharp while beating the hell out of people, and the apparent demise/resurrection of Ian Fleming's spy.

There's also our first real introduction to Javier Bardem as the new Bond villain, and he does seem like a nasty customer.  One whose haircut speaks volumes.

This first trailer is available in high definition at Yahoo! Movies.

This British trailer, meanwhile, is courtesy of those Bondian charmers over at Hey U Guys.

After the disappointment that was Quantum of Solace, the new-look Bond franchise has something to prove.  Luckily, it looks like director Sam Mendes also has plenty to prove, and is going about doing so in stylish fashion.  The American Beauty director is aided by Roger Deakins, the nine-time Oscar nominee and master cinematographer tasked with making Bond's exploits look good.  And look good they certainly do.  I can't remember seeing a Bond movie that looked so visually promising, actually.

Daniel Craig brings the Blue Steel in his third turn as Bond, and Javier Bardem surely provides a proper enemy for the spy.  With Judi Dench getting a more substantial part in the proceedings, the supporting cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Naomi Harris, Albert Finney, Berenice Marlohe, Helen McCrory, Ola Rapace, and Ben Whishaw.  Whishaw's Q gets a nice moment in both trailers, and it seems as though this gadget-master will be toned down a bit, eschewing explosive toothpaste and jetpacks in favor of modified handguns.

Skyfall arrives in the Colonies on November 9th.
