Microsoft has announced its plans to release new mice and keyboards designed specifically for its upcoming operating system, Windows 8.

The peripherals come in three different lines, which include the Wedge, the Sculpt, and the Touch.

The Wedge mouse and keyboard are compact devices designed specifically for mobile use. Both devices are wireless and the mouse uses something called BlueTrack technology for use on any surface. They will connect wirelessly with any Bluetooth-enabled computer or tablet.

In contrast to the Wedge, the Sculpt mouse and keyboard are designed for desktop use on a Windows 8 PC. Like the Wedge, they’re completely wireless and can connect to any Bluetooth enabled device. Individually, they’re about 30 bucks cheaper than the Wedge mouse and keyboard but have a larger profile.

Finally, Microsoft has put together a new Touch Mouse that works a lot like Apple’s Magic Mouse. It’s been updated for Windows 8 functionality with new gesture settings.

The products will be available through the Microsoft Store and through hardware retailers.
