Of the two XCOM games currently in development, Firaxis has got the equivalent of a best man's speech. Everyone's ready to enjoy themselves, the room's pregnant with goodwill, and the only thing it can do wrong is start talking about the groom's endless string of gorgeous ex-girlfriends. 2K Marin's XCOM shooter, meanwhile, was met with suspicion and hostility, like a comedian performing to a room full of people who didn't know it was a comedy night and just wanted a drink.
