That's the focus of a new behind the scenes featurette, too. Sony Pictures released the new video today, and it runs just over two minutes and thirty seconds. In that time, we're treated to some previously unseen footage and many a look at the shooting of complex sequences with plenty of greenscreen. Since this is a promotional bit, the cast also shows up in talking head snippets to discuss shooting all the action and, of course, the director's commitment to on-set effects.
The director is, of course, Len Wiseman. When you hear the name of the guy who directed Underworld, Underworld Evolution, and Live Free or Die Hard, you know he's going to deliver some well-photographed fisticuffs. So see how he does that by watching right here:
Wiseman directs from a screenplay credited to The Amazing Spider-Man contributor James Vanderbilt, Equilibrium director Kurt Wimmer, and Mark Bomback, who worked with the director on Live Free or Die Hard.
Am I the only one whose principal hope for this remake of Paul Verhoeven's 1990 crazy-fest is that Colin Farrell finally nails it as a bankable mainstream action lead? You need only to look at his work in films like In Bruges to see Farrell's chops, but his early-2000s action vehicles never made good use of the guy. So yeah, let's hope it works out for the dude.
Farrell's joined by Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel, along with Bryan Cranston, who we haven't seen much of in the selling of this picture. Also involved are John Cho, Bill Nighy, Bokeem Woodbine, and Ethan Hawke.
Total Recall arrives in 3D on August 3rd.
