Looper was one of the big Hall H presentations at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, despite the fact the film includes no hobbits or superheroes. It's the latest from Rian Johnson, a writer-director who, between his two previous features, has a perfect record right now. Johnson worked with Gordon-Levitt on the brilliant, underseen high school noir Brick, then changed things up with the whimsical con-man movie The Brothers Bloom.
His first foray into science fiction stars Gordon-Levitt as a looper, a man in a near-future where time travel hasn't yet been invented, but will be in three decades. Criminals utilize the technology to send marks thirty years back in time, where loopers like our hero kill them and dispose of the evidence. It's a sweet gig for Gordon-Levitt's character, until the mark he has to kill ends up being himself from the future. Action ensues.
The eight images below are but a sampling of the new stills available in the gallery at Ace Showbiz. Head over that way to peek at all the heretofore unseen pictures.

Up there you can see supporting players Jeff Daniels, Piper Perabo, and Noah Segan, who played the ill-fated Dode in Johnson's Brick. All three are included in a cast that also features the awesome Paul Dano and also-awesome Garret Dillahunt.
Looper hits theaters on September 28th.
