Latest 'Skyfall' Video Blog Is All About Bond's RideLatest 'Skyfall' Video Blog Is All About Bond's Ride

New stills from Skyfall posted yesterday showed Daniel Craig riding a dirtbike, a far cry from his signature sexy automobiles outfitted with gadgets that would make anybody short of Batman jealous as hell.  So today, let's do away with dirtbikes and revel in the aesthetic pleasures of the Aston Martin DB5.  The car is the subject of the latest behind the scenes video blog from the twenty-third cinematic outing of Ian Fleming's British superspy extraordinaire.

Though BMW automobiles showed up in several of the Bond movies during the Pierce Brosnan era, the Aston Martin in pretty inextricably associated with the character.  The DB5, specifically, was driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger and Thunderball.  The car reappeared in 2006's origin story/reboot Casino Royale, where Craig's burlier Bond won in a poker game at a Bahamas casino.

This video, which premiered at 007.com, focuses on the car and has director Sam Mendes explaining that it's part of a deliberate evocation of the 1960s.  Watch away, and wonder whether or not this particular Aston Martin comes equipped with ridiculous gadgetry.

Aston Martin is just one of many, many recognizable brands and products making appearances in SkyfallThe new Bond movie is actually setting an all-time record for cinematic product placement, with roughly one-third of the entire budget coming from what amounts to onscreen advertising.

Moving away from product placement, here's the vague official plot synopsis:

Daniel Craig is back as James Bond 007 in Skyfall, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time.  In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her.  As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Craig will be killing people again and looking snazzy in suits as Bond, while Judi Dench is indeed back as M.  New castmembers include Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes Ben Whishaw, Albert Finney, Ola Rapace, and Helen McCrory.

Skyfall hits theaters on November 9th.
