The San Diego Comic Con is more than just a convention for comic books, comic book movies, and their fans. It's also become a venue for videogames and a few publishers and game studios have taken to exhibiting their titles at the three-day event.
343 Industries was one of the studios which had a huge presence at the event, providing visitors with game stations to experience a portion of Halo 4. Players could experience Halo 4's competitive multiplayer modes as well as play through a portion of the cooperative Spartan Ops campaign.
Rather than simply rehashing the experience they provided at Rooster Teeth Expo and E3 before that, the developers unveiled a couple of videos showcasing the special assassinations you can perform in the game—including two assassination kills unique to the game's Capture the Flag mode and Oddball mode.
In Capture the Flag, the attacking player strikes down his opponent and and impales his opponent with the flagstaff. It's a visceral animation, but no Spartan is actually hurt in the process—as it's done in the confines of a simulation aboard the UNSC Infinity.
In Oddball mode, the player holding the ball can strike down an enemy with the very ball he or she is carrying and kill the unwitting opponent. That particular demonstration has one player lobbing the ball into the hands of another, and using it to kill their pursuer.
The new Assassination moves are just a few of the many new features we can expect to see in Halo 4 when it's released for the Xbox 360 in November. We don't doubt that 343 Industries has even more in store.
