Anyone who knows Birbiglia's stand up or his numerous This American Life contributions will recognize certain lines and circumstances in this trailer. Those familiar with his book, also titled Sleepwalk With Me, or his one-man show will be thrilled by just how completely Birbiglia's sensibility and storytelling style translates to film. In order to maintain his deadpan delivery, the comedian speaks directly to the audience as his own narrator, and while that can be obnoxious when used sloppily, it's tailor made for Birbigs, who stars as a thinly-veiled version of himself named Matt Pandamiglio.

Holy shit, this is a movie for podcast-lovers. Not only is does it star director Mike Birbiglia, but it's co-written by This American Life host/mastermind Ira Glass and is executive produced by TAL producer Alissa Ship. And yes, that's WTF host Marc Maron honoring his tribe by appearing in a supporting role. Yeah, Marc Maron plays a role in a movie directed by Mike Birbiglia. It's a beautiful world we live in, folks.
Maron aside, the cast also includes Lauren Ambrose, James Rebhorn, Carol Kane, Wyatt Cenac, Kristen Schaal, Loudon Wainwright III, Cristin Milioti, John Lutz, and the great David Wain, Stella veteran and director of Wet Hot American Summer and Wanderlust.
Sleepwalk With Me played at Sundance earlier this year, where it met with an apparently rapturous response. We'll have the chance to see it for ourselves this August 24th.
