While we're still far-off from seeing a Justice League real-life action movie, it seems we might get the next best thing as Variety is reporting that Arkham City devs -- Rocksteady Studios -- is now working on a Silver Age prequel of the caped crusader and he's going to be bringing some friends!
This is a move by Warner Bros. to get the audiences used to the idea of seeing DC's finest together as a team.
According to the report, the title is being developed as a prequel that revolves around Batman's first meeting with The Joker. It's based on the Silver Age of DC's comics, which is based on 1956-1970. This was a time when comic book characters were shown in a much lighter perspective -- though, not as hokey as their earlier counterparts.
Aside from that, no further details has been shared as Warner Bros, refused to comment about it. It is expected that the game will most likely hit in 2014 at the earliest. So there's the chance the game might be scheduled for release on next-gen consoles.
Not a bad move by Warner Bros., I admit. If anyone can handle a comic book IP and make it work -- it's Rocksteady.
For reference, Batman: Arkham City sold 2 million units worldwide in its first week and quickly climbed to sell over 6 million within its first month. This was a big improvement to its predecessor -- Arkham Asylum -- which sold 4.3 million units to date.
Would you want Rocksteady to tackle the Justice League next or would you like them to finish off Arkham City's story arc first?
