This exposes a potential fault in the premise of Taken 2. Mills is an unstoppable force of nature killing anyone and anything that stands or even gets near his path. Having him get black-bagged alongside his wife could undercut the badass wish fulfillment that the character represents. Or it could be a clever inversion of the original Taken concept requiring young Kim Mills to rise to the occasion. More likely though, is that it's just a temporary inconvenience that Mills escapes with a little help from Kim before going on the warpath to save his wife.
Anyways, this new trailer is for French audiences and shares a lot of footage with the UK trailer we saw in mid-June, but it's much shorter and more teasery, clocking in at under one minute. Big thanks to the gents at Empire for sharing the trailer.
With Taken director Pierre Morel opting out of the sequel, Colombiana and Transporter 3 director Olivier Megaton takes over for Taken 2. Luc Besson is once again on board as producer and also wrote the screenplay with Robert Mark Kamen, his co-writer on the first film.
It's really the Liam Neeson show, obviously, but the cast nonetheless includes Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen's daughter and wife, respectively, along with Rade Serbedzija, Luke Grimes, and Leland Orser.
Taken 2 gets taken in theaters on October 5th.
