There's a muted color scheme, a determined looking Jeremy Renner striking a cool pose, a rooftop location to suggest some more parkour-style stuntwork, and even as stylish jacket, perfect for a rogue assassin on the run from the government. Most importantly, this poster includes a personal favorite poster trope: the unnecessary handgun added in purely as a means of guaranteeing that moviegoers understand beyond the shadow of a doubt that this is an action movie.
The poster below is here thanks to IMP Awards, where it was passed along by Mike Markus.

The new movie takes place concurrently with many of the events in The Bourne Ultimatum, Damon and two-time Bourne director Paul Greengrass's last entry in the franchise. After Damon's amnesiac ass-kicker blewthe doors off of the Treadstone program that turned him into a world class assassin, CIA higher-ups scramble to covertly shut down a Treadstone-like endeavor, meaning liquidating their assets, Renner's Aaron Cross amongst them.
With Jerem Renner taking over as the lead, holdovers from previous entries include the likes of Joan Allen, Paddy Considine, David Strathairn, Scott Glenn, and Albert Finney. Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Corey Stoll, Stacy Keach, and Donna Murphy are Renner's fellow newcomers to the series.
Tony Gilroy, who contributed to the screenplays for the last three movies, takes over as director, and we'll see how he does when The Bourne Legacy arrives on August 10th.
