We learned about the set, which had seemed unlikely because of Disney's purchase of Marvel in the middle of its movie universe-building, back at the very beginning of this month. This new trailer is fun and makes the "Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase One: Avengers Assembled" box set more real, but it doesn't present any new salient information. We still don't know when this thing will hit stores, though presumably it'll be in time for this holiday season, what with Joss Whedon's superhero team-up hitting this September 25th.
To refresh your memory, here's the sampling of what will be on those ten discs when Phase One sits proudly on your Blu-ray shelf for a cost currently listed at a whopping $219.00:
- Marvel’s The Avengers (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
- Captain America: The First Avenger (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
- Thor (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
- Iron Man 2 (Blu-ray)
- The Incredible Hulk (Blu-ray)
- Iron Man (Blu-ray)
- Bonus Disc – “The Phase One Archives” (Blu-ray)
- Collectible packaging with exclusive memorabilia from the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Memory refreshed? Then check out the trailer, with a tip of the hat to Marvel.
Word is that Marvel and Disney will be announcing more details on the Phase One box set in just a few weeks, on July 15th. So stay tuned for further word on when to expect it and what exactly to expect in it.
Marvel's moving ahead with "Phase Two" as you read, with Iron Man 3 in production for a release next May, Thor 2 gearing up to start shooting this summer for a November 2013 release. Captain America 2 is set for spring of 2014, and will be followed by the as-yet unannounced mystery movie that will probably be revealed at Comic-Con next month.
