If you're an Xbox 360 player, chances are you're already playing through Mass Effect 3's Extended Cut DLC now. PS3 and PC players might have to wait for a bit until the free DLC is available to them.
In saying that, I don't expect this Extended Cut DLC to alleviate the concerns all fans have -- and Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson knows this.
Speaking in a BioWare podcast, Hudson admits that the expanded ending won't be able to satisfy everyone.
You can never completely satisfy everyone. We've seen a whole range of feedback, ranging from people who wanted a total redo, to people who had concerns and questions about the original endings, to people who loved the original endings and have told us they don't want to change anything."So there's no doubt that there will be a whole new wave of discussion and debate, maybe even controversy. But we didn't do the Extended Cut because we're trying to make everybody happy, make it perfect - we just saw an opportunity to expand on things that we felt could add value to the experience, for those that appreciate it.
While I admit, I'm still expecting a ton of backlash, I just hope this Extended Cut DLC answers a lot more questions and concerns compared to the game's original ending.
The Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC is free for download starting today for the Xbox 360, while PS3 and PC platforms will follow suit either later or tomorrow. It's reported to be close to 1.9GB in size and will supposedly show more than 30-minutes of new footage.
What would you like see amended in the Extended Cut DLC? More importantly, what can BioWare do to finally quell all the hate?
