It has Liam Neeson as taciturn ass-kicker and devoted father Bryan Mills. Instead of snapping people's necks, Mills is having a sit down here. He still looks plenty pissed off, and he's holding a gun to remind us all that he's an action hero bent on vengeance, but for Bryan Mills, taking a seat counts as showing his softer, more sensitive side, I guess.
As Neeson related last month, the sequel has Mills working in Istanbul before he himself being abducted, tortured, and taken to the Albanian town from which the first film's villains sprang, leaving it up to his formerly-imperiled daughter to bail him out. For thematic symmetry, the new bad guy is, in fact, the father of one of the villains from Taken.
Back to the point. This quad poster is courtesy of the fetching and altogether rakish Brits over at Empire.

While your American mind reels at this example of a unique global culture, comfort yourself wit the fact that Liam Neeson continues to embrace his action star status with the Taken sequel, and he'll once again be joined by Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen as his daughter and wife, respectively. Luc Besson is also back producing the new version, as well as co-writing with Robert Mark Kamen. Original director Pierre Morel did not return, however. In his place is Olivier Megaton, another Besson-veteran who previously directed Transporter 3 and Columbiana.
Taken 2 is scheduled for Stateside release on October 5th.
