Sylvester Stallone is once again large and in charge, sporting a black beret as Barney. This poster, in addition to some past images, suggest that Stallone's Forearm Veins should probably get above-the-line billing on this sequel. That 65 year-old man's arm veins are bigger than my legs. Sly, Sly's arms, and Sly's arm veins are joined by no fewer than ten other familiar cinematic action dudes, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Terry Crews, Jason Staham, and Chuck Norris, amongst others.
The incendiary poster below premiered at Yahoo! Movies today, and if you head over that way, you'll find many an image and character posters, too.
The placement of "Back for War" implies that what might just be a tagline could maybe be a promotional subtitle. It certainly clarifies what the Expendables are back for. War. It's war.
Stallone directed the first film in 2010, but steps aside as director this time, with Simon West taking his place. West is the director behind Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The General's Daughter, and the Statham starring remake of The Mechanic. Stallone shares a screenwriting credit with Richard Wenk, who contributed to the story with Ken Kaufman and David Agosto.
The Expendables 2 also stars Scott Adkins, Nan Yu, and Charisma Carpenter. They'll be alongside all the guys in this poster when the sequel arrives on August 17th.
