Danger Close's upcoming miltiary shooter Medal of Honor Warfighter -- like it's 2010 predecessor -- will once again focus on the soldier's tale rather than on set-pieces.
What better way to do that than to have the military have their own version of the game.
EA has announced that Medal of Honor Warfighter will have a Military Edition. It will be exclusive for US miltiary and government employees. Aside from having a different name, the Military Edition will contain Warfighter's Limited Edition and a Project Honor camouflage pattern for their in-game character. If you're a serviceman, you can buy the Military Edition here.
Project Honor is a charity set by various partnerships, which includes weapon and gear manufacturers that will send donations to the Navy Seal Foundation and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Oh, and the weapon and gear manufacturers' wares will be seen in-game, too.
If you need a refresher on Warfighter's premise, the press release covers that as well.
Written by U.S. Tier 1 Operators while deployed overseas and inspired by real world events, Medal of Honor Warfighter delivers an up close and personal look at today’s battlefield and the fight against the ongoing global terror threat. From rescuing hostages in Abu Sayyaf’s stronghold in the Philippines to assaulting Al-Shabaab’s “Pirate Town” on the Somali Coast, Medal of Honor Warfighter puts players in the boots of today’s most highly trained and skilled warriors to experience missions that have a dotted line to real world terrorist threats. Powered by the ground-breaking Frostbite™ 2 engine, Medal of Honor Warfighter features real world hotspots in the single player campaign and introduces international Tier 1 Operators from 10 different nations in multiplayer allowing players to show their national pride online.
Not a bad move by EA. It's good that it's just camo they're giving as an incentive and not game-breaking exclusive weapons.
Medal of Honor Warfighter will be out on October 23 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
