'The Dark Knight Rises' Score Track Listing and Album Artwork'The Dark Knight Rises' Score Track Listing and Album Artwork

Hans Zimmer, who collaborated with James Newton Howard on the scores for both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, is returning for the trilogy-capper The Dark Knight Rises, though without Howard as his co-composer.  Just under forty days out from the sequel's release, two things of note went down today.  One, advanced tickets went on sale.  Two, a list of track titles from Zimmer's score have emerged, along with the simple, effective album artwork.

Okay, tickets.  A small handful of theaters started selling IMAX tickets all of six months ago, but now pretty much everybody is opening the floodgates.  Click on over to Fandango to see about getting tickets, be that at midnight or any other time.  Or if you're a superfan and Blu-ray's just not cutting it, you can head to AMC to pick up tickets to the three-movie Batman marathon on July 19th, leading up to The Dark Knight Rises at midnight.

Now on to the soundtrack.  Zimmer has long said that there is a full-blown Batman theme, of which we've only heard strains in the past two films because Bruce Wayne had yet to fully earn the fullest musical expression of Batmanliness.  Presumably, even though Simmer's scoring this one on his own, he'll be supplying that suitably stirring theme.  That theme is probably covered by the titles of tracks you see below.  These are pretty vague, but spoilerphobes had best beware, as there are certainly hints of where the movie is going thematically.

You've been warned.

01. A Storm Is Coming (0:37)
02. On Thin Ice (2:55)
03. Gotham’s Reckoning (4:08)
04. Mind If I Cut In? (3:27)
05. Underground Army (3:12)
06. Born In Darkness (1:57)
07. The Fire Rises (5:33)
08. Nothing Out There (2:51)
09. Despair (3:14)
10. Fear Will Find You (3:08)
11. Why Do We Fall? (2:03)
12. Death By Exile (0:23)
13. Imagine The Fire (7:25)
14. Necessary Evil (3:16)
15. Rise (7:11)
TOTAL TIME: 51:20

Note number eleven, quoting Batman Begins.  Good to see that Christopher Nolan will indeed be doubling back and tying this climactic installment to the origin story that kicked off the trilogy.  Here's the artwork:

Okay, the hype has been building since the first time the credits rolled on The Dark Knight in 2008, so by now you know the deal.  Christian Bale stars as Bruce for the last time, joined by fellow familiar faces Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman, along with newbies Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple, Matthew Modine, and Aidan Gillen.

It all goes down July 20th.
