Well, kiss it goodbye, folks. Since it launched in 2007, hundreds of thousands of people have taken the opportunity to sneak online with Metal Gear Online 2. It's turned out to be a great addition to Metal Gear Solid 4 with some unique ideas in the gameplay and in the wider system. It was one of those few titles that when you got it, you were hooked.
Kojima Productions will turn off the servers over the next 24 hours. If you plan to play it between now and then, remember that there's quite a large patch that takes quite a while to download and that you'll need to muck about with the Konami servers. There will also probably be quite a lot of people trying to get in.
Metal Gear Online 2 was a great addition to the series and was eventually let down by lag and glitches that made it very difficult to get into (or come back to) and that ultimately led to a lack of people on the servers. Still, I wouldn't say no to a brand new version in Revengeance.
