When I was a kid I used to go down the street to my friend Geoff's house and play multiplayer Halo with him. I remember very clearly how he used to grab a sniper rifle and then plonk down on one of several carefully memorised hill-tops, holding his breath. Geoff, like many others, saw something transcendently wonderful within HALO that I never, ever did. Until now.
