Director Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were all on hand to present this new footage, which I expected to be more of a clip. Instead, it's basically a minute and a half long trailer, filled with more straight-up spectacle and a lot of stuff that some folks would doubtless consider spoilers. It's got the chilly sense of dread seen in previous trailers, but it also promises some appropriately epic happenings.
Watch for yourself below if you please. As mentioned, the video premiered at MTV's annual Movie Awards, but the embed below is courtesy of Rope of Silicon.

Okay, so that looks pretty big. Now we have a good idea of just how big The Dark Knight Rises will be lengthwise. According to a listing for the film at AMC Theatres, the final installment of Nolan's Bat trilogy will be 2 hours and 45 minutes long. For comparison, Batman Begins was 2 hours and 20 minutes, while The Dark Knight Rises clocked in at 2 hours and 32 minutes.
Nolan said at the Movie Awards that every great story needs a great ending, and that this movie represents the best attempt to properly close the story he kicked off with the 2005 reboot. Hopefully he and sibling co-writer Jonathan Nolan, working from a story by the directorial Nolan and David S. Goyer have managed to hit the right notes for a graceful ending.
The Dark Knight Rises arrives on July 20th.
