The story finds Shue and Lawrence as a single mother and her teenage daughter moving into a new town, where they find themselves next door to the site of a grisly double murder. Thieriot plays the sole survivor of the massacre, carried out by his sister against their parents, and when Lawrence's character, Elissa, strikes up a relationship with the troubled young man, she gets significantly more than she bargained for.

Lawrence, who last year played a supporting role in X-Men: First Class and earned an Oscar nomination for her tremendous performance in Winter's Bone, rocketed to international movie star status with her starring role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. Here she's joined by fellow Academy Award nominee Shue and up-and-comer Thieriot for this horror tale, directed by Mark Tonderai from a screenplay by David Loucka and a story by Jonathan Mostow.
