Paradox Interactive has released a new trailer for their Fatshark-developed game War of the Roses. If you haven't heard of the game yet, just think of it as DICE's Battlefield mixed in with medieval weapons and horses instead of tanks and you'll get the picture.
The comparison is not warranted, as the game's producer -- Gordon Van Dyke -- has also produced a number of Battlefield games before he left the developer.
While the influence can't really be seen in the game's E3 trailer, the actual gameplay retains some of that rock-paper-scissors thing that DICE heavily adheres to.
In saying all that, that's not to say the game can't stand on its own or simply a reskinned Battlefield game. One of the key differences between the two -- aside from the setting and weapons -- is that War of the Roses is played form a third-person perspective and it's based on the year 1455-1485, so expect authentic medieval weaponry (no noobtubes!).
The game will have a single-player component but the focus will be on multiplayer. It will have the usual multiplayer mechanics such as gaining experience to unlock new stuff and to rank up form "filthy peasant" to "unstoppable armored killing machine."
War of the Roses is set for release this fall exclusively on PCs.
