The premise is deliberately simple, while this trailer itself is short and sweet, selling the film as an adrenaline-delivery system on wheels. What really sells the film, though, are Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Shannon as the bicyclist and the man determined to obtain the little nugget he's carrying. It's a fabulous futuristic age when the floppy-haired kid from Third Rock from the Sun and Fred from Groundhog Day are fascinating, singular actors who can elevate pretty much any material.
You can watch the trailer right here or in high definition at Yahoo! Movies, where it made its official premiere.
Gordon-Levitt and Shannon are enough to sell a movie, but the cast also includes Dania Ramirez, Jamie Chung, and The Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandvi, who has the honor of saying the film's title about thirteen seconds into the trailer.
This film is the latest directorial effort from script-doctor-extraordinaire David Koepp. As a screenwriter, Koepp has contributed to Spider-Man, Mission: Impossible, Panic Room, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Jurassic Park, amongst others. He's been less prolific as a director, but has directed Stir of Echoes, Secret Window, and Ghost Town.
Premium Rush was long scheduled for January, but is now set to debut, more appropriately, on August 24th.
