As always with all things Prometheus, these qualify as spoilers because pretty much anything past the fantastic first trailer constitutes a trailer to folks attempting to stay clean.
The first of these two new videos is in the style of the Meredith Vickers featurette, but instead spends some time with Charlie Holloway, the scientist played by Logan Marshall-Green, familiar to the seven people who saw Devil. As we've seen more and more from the film, it's become clear that Holloway is bigger part of Prometheus than initially thought, and this featurette goes into his risk-loving scientific mentality. It sets up an interesting potential arc for the guy, since you can see in this and other spoilery bits, some bad things are likely to befall Holloway.
This second featurette also includes new footage, but is less specific, instead hyping Ridley Scott's vision for his first science fiction film in thirty years. Amongst the new footage are actors Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, Charlize Theron, and Michael Fassbender waxing enthusiastic about their boss. A lot of the talking head snippets are familiar, but I'm always happy to hear that soundbite of Scott saying, "Of course, what I want to do is scare the living shit out of you." Never gets old.
Based on every damn thing we've seen from this film, set in the universe of Alien, Scott will be delivering some masterful visuals and some potentially very unnerving body horror. The big question that remains is whether the actual story can live up to Scott's style. Jon Spaihts wrote early drafts, back when it was a more direct prequel, and Damon Lindelof came aboard subsequently. The fact that Holloway has an actual tragic flaw, even if it is broad, suggests that the characters will be full enough to invest in, so let's all just keep our fingers crossed for the next two weeks.
Prometheus, Scott's first foray into 3D filmmaking, arrives on June 8th.
