Two 'Anchorman 2' Teasers Ride the Palomino StallionTwo 'Anchorman 2' Teasers Ride the Palomino Stallion

It's battle between the impossibly dominant alpha males from both sides of the pond.  British spy and unstoppable ladies' man James Bond got his first Skyfall teaser trailer in the middle of the night.  Now, San Diego's finest newscaster is proving that he, and by extension America, are kind of a big deal, as next year's Anchorman sequel now has not one, but two teaser trailers online.  That's right.  Two.

Last week, Paramount Pictures dropped the first teaser poster for the as-yet untitled Anchorman follow-up in conjunction with the premiere of the first trailer attached to the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy The Dictator.  Now you can see the trailer without paying for a ticket to the movies, as well as an alternate version with different line readings.

The Channel 4 Newsteam is on hand in both versions, with Will Ferrell, David Koechner, Paul Rudd, and Steve Carell back in their seventies outfits and once again spouting ludicrousness of the highest order.

First up is this version from Funny or Die, a version featuring mock epic voiceover and Champ Kind throwing out his catchphrase, "Whammy!"

And this one is a simpler version without voiceover.  That's not the only difference, though, as everybody gets a different line and Brick Tamland's imbecility manifests slightly differently.

Ferrell and co-writer and director Adam McKay are currently at work on the sequel's screenplay with production tentatively set to begin early next year for a release at some unspecified point in 2013.

It's beautiful seeing the finest Newsteam in all of Southern California back in full regalia, but it also has us hoping yet again that Christina Applegate will reprise her role as Veronica Corningstone.  Also, Anchorman 2 presents an opportunity for Jon Hamm to go up against Will Ferrell, and since Hamm worked with producer Judd Apatow on Bridesmaids, it's not too big of a stretch to imagine that he might show up.  He's also an SNL favorite who has proven his comedic chops.  Just putting it out there: let's get some Hamm in Anchorman 2.
