Murray, typically deadpan, laments his having to work with children, explores Anderson's interconnected sets, and discusses the cast with commentary like, "Bruce Willis, playing a policeman. Typecast, I guess." In addition to explaining why Andersonian characters always wear short pants, Murray cradles a Starbucks cup and helpfully says, "I've got a little bit of rum in me now. Sailor Jerry. It's a spiced rum."
The video premiered on Reddit, and it's the first such content debut in the site's history, so head over and get generous with the upvotes.
For a more comprehensive, lamentably less Murray-centric, behind the scenes look at Moonrise Kingdom, check out last week's series of videos hosted by narrator Bob Balaban. Those videos spend a lot more time getting into the island of New Penzance, where the 1960s-set story takes place.
That story centers on a pair of adolescents who fall in love and abscond into the wilderness together. With a massive thunderstorm a-brewing, the local adults mobilize to find the kids.
Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward both their feature debuts here, surround by a cast that, as Murray points out, includes Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, and even Harvey Keitel.
Moonrise Kingdom opens in limited release this Friday, May 25th.
