These first photos from the reboot also include Edward Burns as Cross's partner, Tommy Kane, and, most strikingly, Matthew Fox as the villainous sociopath known only as "Picasso." Fox, mot known for his nice-guy roles as Jack Shepherd and Charlie Salinger on the television series Lost and Party of Five, looks unsettlingly vicious in the role. He's pretty much unrecognizable, and his his absurd, lean physicality calls to mind Robert De Niro's Max Cady in Cape Fear. Basically, he looks like a scary son of a bitch.

Rob Cohen, the director most known for starting a still-strong franchise with The Fast and the Furious eleven years ago, is the man overseeing the new version of Cross. Cohen's other credits include (in order of escalating ludicrousness) The Skulls, Stealth, xXx, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Much attention will be paid to one-man-entertainment-empire Perry branching out into a new genre as a leading man, but Cohen has assembled an interesting supporting cast to back up the star. There are Burns and the thoroughly-messed-up-looking Fox, yeah, but the female lead is played by the lovely Rachel Nichols. Giancarlo Esposito, so effective as Gus Fring on Breaking Bad, and John C. McGinley, immortalized as Dr. Cox on Scrubs, both appear, as does Leon himself, Jean Reno.
Matthew Fox will terrorize Tyler Perry when Alex Cross hits theaters on October 26th.
