First Trailer for 'Hyde Park on Hudson' Starring Bill Murray as FDRFirst Trailer for 'Hyde Park on Hudson' Starring Bill Murray as FDR

It's a good year for fans of Bill Murray, by which I mean to say, "It's a good year for humans."  Murray's playing a supporting role in frequent collaborator Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom this summer, and later this year, he's starring as the 32nd U.S. President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in the period drama Hyde Park on Hudson.  The first trailer for the latter has debuted online, and it promises not just solid Murray, but a potentially great little movie, too.

The drama-with-more-than-a-touch-of-comedy doesn't feature FDR as a wartime commander in chief, but instead focuses on a single weekend in 1939, during which King George VI and his wife, Queen Elizabeth, became the first British monarchs to ever visit the former Colonies.  George is, of course, the same figurehead played by Colin Firth in The King' Speech, but the king is a supporting player here, with the film spending quite a lot of time on the relationship between Roosevelt and his cousin Margaret Suckley, played by Laura Linney.

The trailer debuted at Yahoo! Movies, and you can head over that way in order to see it in high definition.

Earlier this year, we saw seven stills from the film, which you view right here.

Murray's Rushmore co-star Olivia Williams plays Eleanor Roosevelt in Hyde Park on Hudson, along with Samuel West as King George Peep Show's Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth.

Richard Nelson wrote the screenplay, adapting his own radio play.  Roger Michell, the director behind Notting Hill, Changing Lanes, and Morning Glory directs here, and based on this trailer, he's struck the right balance between historical gravity and charming comedy.

Focus Features will release Hyde Park on Hudson this December 7th, smack dab in the middle of awards season.

Insert obligatory talk of Murray and the Oscar he should've won for Lost in Translation.
