Hey Look, It's the Final 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' Domestic PosterHey Look, It's the Final 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' Domestic Poster

Paramount Pictures has unveiled the final domestic poster for next month's action-figure-based sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation.  The one sheet has the requisite Photoshop effects, three characters holding guns, one character rocking a sword, and one faceless villain who may or may not also be holding a weapon of some sort.

Based on the guns and whatnot around him, it'd be very unwise of Cobra Commander to be unarmed, so let's just assume the bad guy knows what he's doing.  Several weeks ago, we saw no less than eight character posters for the film, and those, along with many official stills, have proven that the secret to marketing a G.I. Joe movie is in making sure Adrianne Palicki is either wearing a revealing dress or pointing an unsubtly phallic machine gun.

The poster premiered at Coming Soon, and you can head over there to see a hi-res version.

This movie is one of two big-budget action pictures produced by toy-empire Hasbro this summer.  The other, Battleship, attempts to launch a franchise, while this one attempts to reroute an existing franchise.  2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra did well enough commercially, but for the sequel, Paramount is going for a sorta-reboot, jettisoning many elements of that film and going for a different tone.  Jon M. Chu takes over for The Rise of Cobra director Stephen Sommers, and the screenplay is from Zombieland co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

The returning cast consists of only Channing Tatum, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Jonathan Pryce, and Ray Park, whose face you never see anyways.  The new cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palicki, D.J. Cotrona, Joseph Mazzello, RZA, Elodie Yung, Walton Goggins, and Ray Stevenson.

See the Joes do their thing in theaters on June 29th.
