Murray's just one member of a pretty huge and impressive ensemble cast in this, his sixth collaboration with Anderson. As such, this three-minute video featurette is far from the Bill Murray show, and includes lots of new footage from the film, as well as interview snippets with the likes of Bruce Willis, Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bob Balaban, and co-writer Roman Coppola.
The film takes place on a small New England island in the 1960s and follows the varied grown-up inhabitants as they mount a search effort to find a pair of love-struck adolescents who absconded into the wilderness just before a massive storm. If that simple description didn't do it for you, watch the Andersonian love-fest below and keep in mind that the movie contains Murray throwing his shoe at Edward Norton.
At this point, you know whether or not you respond to Anderson's style, but even if you don't particularly care for his deadpan sense of humor or exacting look, you might have to admit that the attention to detail in Moonrise Kingdom looks damned impressive. If you do enjoy Anderson's work, then there's a whole lot get fired up about in this featurette.
This marks Anderson's first live-action feature since 2007's thoroughly-enjoyable The Darjeeling Limited and his first foray into stop-motion animation, 2009's Fantastic Mr. Fox. While the cast is filled with recognizable actors, including Frances McDormand and Harvey Keitel, the two principal characters of Suzy and Sam are played by Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman, both making their feature debuts.
Moonrise Kingdom opens in limited release on May 25th.
