The first few details for the upcoming iteration of the yearly FIFA franchise have surfaced via a recent event held at London. According to the game producer, Dave Rutter, the upcoming game will feature five major improvements—First Touch Control, Player Impact, Complete Dribble, Tactical Free-Kicks and Attacking AI.
Ball control will be much more realistic and will vary from player to player. It depends on the strength, the speed, the ball height and the technical skills of your player to get the perfect first touch of the ball and run with it.
The player impact engine has now been updated and optimized, so those unrealistic fail moments we all encountered in FIFA 12 have all been taken care of by EA. The optimized engine uses a new set of impact values for the hip and upper body area.
The complete dribble is somewhat different from what we've seen in FIFA 12 which means changing direction won't allow you to dribble past opponents. I would like to see how this works in a video format.
Taking Free-kicks will now be even more interesting as three players can now gather around the ball, players can also feint a direct shot and angle it to your teammate who comes off the wall. Players can also defend better by calling more players into the wall and rush out players to block the ball during free-kicks.
The AI has also evolved keeping in line with the previous games. CPU-controlled players have better running routes and better guessing options of judging where you might pass the ball. Similarly strikers will not fall easily into your offside traps.
Apart from these major overhauls, cheering and goal keeping animations have also been improved along with the graphics.
