When Smith first played K in 1997, he was still defined by his wisecracking Fresh Prince sitcom persona. In the meantime, he's moved into more dramatic work and twice been nominated for Academy Awards (for The Pursuit of Happyness and Ali). Perhaps that's why it feels sort of strange to see him back in full-blown comedic mode, particularly since we last saw him going heavy in Seven Pounds four years ago.
Anyways, here's the first clip, with a tip of the hat to Fandango.
And here's the second one, with K having traveled back in time. This one debuted at MSN.
The story of this second sequel finds an intergalactic biker breaking out of a lunar prison and heading back in time to 1969 in order to exact revenge on Agent K and change the course of history, clearing the way for an alien invasion of Earth. It's then up to J to time-travel backwards and work with the young K to save the world and the future.
Barry Sonnenfeld's back as director, while the famously incomplete-during-production was originally written by Etan Cohen, with eventual revisions from Matt Nathanson and blockbuster script doctor David Koepp.
Smith, Jones, and Brolin lead the cast, obviously. Alice Eve plays a younger version of the MiB head honcho played by Emma Thompson, and Jemaine Clement plays Boris, the villainous interstellar biker. The rest of the cast includes Bill Hader, Nicole Scherzinger, Michael Stuhlbarg, Kevin Covais, and Lenny Venito.
Snag some Rogue 3D Eyewear in time for Men in Black III's theatrical run on May 25th.
