Today, Sony Pictures revealed the first two official images showing off The Lizard, but neither includes such a full-on look at the reptilian beast's face. Instead, one shows his clawed hand and Peter Parker's affinity for labeling his belongings, while the other has old Lizard throwing down on some unfortunate soul. Importantly, though, the second image shows, for the first time, the villain wearing his white lab coat, just like the familiar comic book version of the character.
Both stills come from Apple's steadily growing The Amazing Spider-Man image gallery.

Dr. Curt Connors is played by Rhys Ifans, most familiar to American audiences as Spike, Hugh Grant's eccentric, mayonnaise-eating flatmate in Notting Hill. The character here is employed by Oscorp and has an old connection to Peter Parker's father, who disappeared mysteriously years before. When Peter shows up at Curt's doorstep, he helps the amputee create the formula that turns him into a monstrous bad guy.
A new trailer for the film is set to debut in theaters this Friday, attached to The Avengers, and these images will doubtless help to hype that.
(500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb makes his sophomore feature with the 3D reboot. He selected Andrew Garfield to play the new cinematic version of Peter Parker, and Emma Stone to portray Peter's first love, Gwen Stacy. The cast also includes Sally Field, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Irrfan Khan, and Chris Zylka.
