The X-Com franchise is known for many things. However - the eery environments, soundtracks, and ecosystems are huge markings of a tried and true X-Com experience.
Greg Foertsch, art director at Firaxis Studios, takes us on a journey in this video. He explains the art direction that is being followed throughout X-Com: Enemy Unknown's development, and discusses why the earlier X-Com games engrossed him so deeply into the franchise.
Next, he speaks on character development. He says that the studio wanted to follow what the general public saw as "expected." The soldiers are "G.I. Joes" and an alien is "a little gray guy."
Finally, Foertsch talks on what specifically he is most excited about with the upcoming game. He notes that the technology allows them to create a player experience that is more immersive than ever, and that he as an artist is ecstatic about this fact.
The game is looking to be one heck of a good time, so check the video out above and let us know what you think about the game's concepts and art direction!
