PC and 360 users have been able to take part in Mass Effect 3's online weekend events, specific goals which reward players with extra XP or other items in return for playing in a certain way at a certain time. It's pretty cool, especially since Mass Effect 3 comes packed with an excellent multiplayer mode.
PS3 owners haven't been so lucky. The events have been unavailable on the Sony console and Bioware were quick to shift the blame last time the issue was mentioned: "Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer our Multiplayer Challenge weekends on PlayStation 3. Sony has not yet approved the promotion. We continue to work with them to find a compromise, but until then, Sony will not allow us to run the same Multiplayer Challenges on the PlayStation 3 that we run on Xbox 360 and PC."
It seems that things may not be as cut and dry as all that. Sony have now issued a similar statement: "We are currently working together with EA and BioWare on an implementation to bring Mass Effect 3 multiplayer weekends to PS3."
I suppose the saving grace of the situation is that if Sony has issued a statement about the whole thing, they at least don't want people to give up entirely on the idea. Still, if I'd bought the game on PS3, hearing that both companies are working towards some unspecified solution probably wouldn't cheer me up any.
