A new domestic one-sheet has arrived online today, and it takes a recognizable image of Aladeen and stretches it across Central Park.  The pastoral loveliness of the setting – designed by landscape luminary Frederick Law Olmsted – is blotted out by Aladeen's giant beard, and the poster effectively conveys that the character visits New York in the film. 

The one-sheet premiered at Entertainment Weekly today, so a big thanks to EW.

Last week, the first official clip from The Dictator showed the titular character trying to make his way in the city without his beard or authoritarian identity.  The film was apparently inspired by Zabibah and the King, a novel allegedly ghostwritten by none other than Saddam Hussein, but The Dictator's story doesn't seem resemble that ridiculous allegory much at all.

Sacha Baron Cohen, the man who first made a huge impression with Ali G, reunites with his Borat and Bruno director Larry Charles for this comedy, which will eschew the faux-documentary style and prankster bits of those films in favor of a more straightforward narrative.  Baron Cohen is surrounded in the film by a great many comedic ringers.  The cast includes Anna Faris, John C. Reilly, Jason Mantzoukas, Aasif Mandvi, J.B. Smoove, Bobby Lee, Kevin Corrigan, B.J. Novak, Ben Kingsley, and even Megan Fox as herself (sorta).

The Dictator brings Aladeen to a theater near you on May 16th.
