Most of the imagery we've seen from Prometheus has focused on the extraterrestrial setting, showing a lot of dark, foreboding, H.R. Giger-style chambers and weirdness. Today, though, we've got no fewer than eight shiny new images devoted exclusively to the Prometheus itself, the eponymous interstellar craft that takes our intrepid heroes to the planet LV-426, where they're introduced to the horrors that kinda sorta set up Ridley Scott's classic Alien.
Scott's first science fiction film in the three decades since
Blade Runner features contributions from his frequent
Arthur Max. The production designer has previously built the past for Scott, having created worlds for
Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Robin Hood, American Gangster, and
Kingdom of Heaven. This is his first time projecting into the future, and it looks pretty damn slick. The feel of the Prometheus definitely recalls the interiors of the Nostromo from
Alien, but with a less industrial, more high-tech vibe.
Anyways, this first schematic-thingie is here courtesy of IGN.

The rest of these images, meanwhile, are here thanks to Prometheus Forum member Jonesycatpants.

The people hanging out in the spaceship include Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, and Rafe Spall, but the cast also includes Guy Pearce and Patrick Wilson.
The script, by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, is definitely a prequel, but not in the way we've come to expect. It definitely takes place in the Alien universe well before Scott's first sci-fi horror trip, but it doesn't assiduously link up to that 1979 classic. It won't be like Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith or some such business, where the end if all about directly leading up to the past film.
Anyways, Prometheus arrives in theaters on June 8th.
