If you fancied playing Kid Icarus: Uprising but didn't have access to a 3DS, this news might come as something of an annoyance. Thanks to not having access to 3DS dev kits, Masahiro Sakurai and his team at Project Sora needed to improvise and ended up developing a prototype for the game on PC and Wii.
In a recent Iwata Asks, Sakurai confirmed the odd development structure. “At first we didn’t have the Nintendo 3DS development kit, so we started making it on a PC,” he said. “Oh, and for a while we were using a Wii to make it!”
"As you can see," he continued, "what we made doesn't differ much from the overall image of the final version. There wasn't any deviation in policy from the beginning of the project, but in order to apply it to the Nintendo 3DS and maximize its performance, we had to work hard."
